Coworking & Events

Our Offerings

401 State Street in Brooklyn is a physical home for movement work. Grassroots efforts and leaders make use of 401 State Street for coworking, events, meetings, and programming. All for free, or at a heavily subsidized rate.

We host community gatherings, convenings, films and art, and activities that cultivate relationships and joy.

This is not a venue. It is infrastructure.

From January to June of 2026, we had the pleasure of hosting 28 events, with over 860 attendees. Over that same period, we had 300 desk bookings for co-working, with over 40 active members.

Movement partners taking space at 401 State Street through events and working is a daily demonstration of what WBU was built to prove: that a place shaped by harm can be remade into a space of care and collective power.

Get In Touch

401 State Street is a gathering place for collaboration, healing, and organizing. Our event spaces, coworking offices, and meeting rooms are available to community members and partner organizations — free or heavily subsidized. The building is fully accessible and equipped for large (up to 80 people) and small gatherings.

This space is a home for:

  • Women and gender-expansive people directly impacted by carceral systems, whose wisdom and leadership are the heart of our work.

  • Grassroots advocates and organizations resourcing and serving this core community.

  • Community-based organizations and movement partners committed to challenging oppressive systems and building an equitable economy.

By prioritizing our collective well-being and directing resources back into our communities, we engage in struggle to transform the future together. If these are your roots and values, you belong here.
