What We Do
We fund, convene, and connect grassroots efforts led by and for women, girls, and gender-expansive people directly impacted by carceral systems.
We fund grassroots efforts organized by and for directly impacted women, girls, and gender-expansive people — locally, nationally, and internationally — and work to grow the total resources flowing to those closest to the work. As a trusted bridge between philanthropy and movements, we bring new and non-traditional donors into relationship with this work.
Fund
We invest in the people doing the work, not just the work itself. That means creating space for leaders to come together, rest, learn from each other, and build the organizational strength to bring new supporters and partners into the movement, to sustain their movements over time.
Convene
We connect community members in our space at 401 State Street — our 19,000-square-foot Brooklyn home. Community members co-work, host events, collaborate, and build relationships with one another.
Connect
We believe in a care-based approach to philanthropy, investing not only in the work itself but actively in the people doing the work. Our funding is informed by the Feminist Funding Principles and the Six Practices of Trust Based Philanthropy, and other justice-oriented frameworks.
